Ukraine is a leader in Higher Education among the countries of Eastern Europe, leading the group in the world university rankings, and has about 850 institutions of Higher Education.  Historically Ukraine has spent a high percentage (currently 7.5% of GDP) on higher education and has approximately 1.5 million students out of a population of 44 million.

Ukrainian universities are also popular with international students from countries including India, Morocco and Turkmenistan.  The most popular destinations for Ukrainian students wishing to study overseas are Poland and Germany.

Verification turn-around times in Ukraine currently average 7 days. This slowed considerably during 2022 but has since stabilized. Ukrainian university graduate records have been held centrally since 2010, and most verifications remain reliable despite issues such as interruptions to power supply in some areas.

The number of requests to verify Ukrainian qualifications has grown significantly in the last five years. Qualification Check has seen requests more than double in the last twelve months.  The percentage of checks that are returned ‘not verified’ has however, remained stable since covid, at approximately 6%.
